 Havre de Grace, MD (April 2008) - Located at the magnificent Bulle Rock Country Club, this tournament is one of the four "Majors" on the LPGA Tour and we are returning to this locale for the second year in a row!
Please join us for a fun and rewarding community service outreach, offering free skin cancer screenings, sun damage assessments and sun safety education for golf enthusiasts enjoying the LPGA tournament. We also have a special day for private screenings for the LPGA Tour players and caddies.
The event will be co-hosted by WDS members Valerie Callender, MD and Karen Beasley, MD.
We are seeking local members to conduct free skin cancer screenings during the following volunteer shifts:

LPGA PLAYER AND CADDIE SCREENINGS (private screenings held in the Clubhouse)
- Wednesday, June 4, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
SCREENINGS AND SUN SAFETY OUTREACH FOR GOLF FANS (conducted in the two Play Safe in the Sun tents on the grounds of the tournament.)
- Friday, June 6, 12-3 p.m.
- Saturday, June 7, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 12 p.m. - 3 p.m.
- Sunday June 8, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 12 p.m. - 3p.m.

THE TRADITION CONTINUES:
What defines your life? Touring the world with the Ladies Professional Golf Association is what defines the lives of today's players. Internationally renowned golfers such as Lorena Ochoa, Annika Sorenstam, Se Ri Pak, Paula Creamer and others have the opportunity to compete for top rankings and millions of dollars in prize money. Players spend countless hours, week after week, perfecting and executing their game.
The McDonald's LPGA Championship, one of only four "majors" on the tour, provides a supreme test, not only of the mechanical skills of their finely honed golf swings but of the mental and emotional strengths necessary to handle the pressures of competing for victory in such a prestigious event. Each player has a watchful eye on the leaderboard to see her name rise to the top, with the ultimate goal of standing on the 18th green, hoisting the Championship trophy, at one of the most honored and historic events in all of women's sports.
Time-honored traditions and momentous play have been the trademarks for the LPGA Championship since the beginning. Since 1955, players such as Mickey Wright, Betsy Rawls, Patty Berg, Sandra Haynie, Kathy Whitworth, Nancy Lopez, Patty Sheehan and Beth Daniel have put forth their best efforts in vying for the LPGA Championship title. They have exhibited a clear passion for golf and a dedication to helping preserve the integrity and values of this great game; all the while possessing an unmistakable desire to be the best.
This June, come see today’s top women golfers compete for the coveted McDonald’s LPGA Championship title as they “continue the tradition.”
